Kathleen Hale
A Scot who studied in Manchester and then the Central School of Art. She worked as personal assistant for the famous artist, Augustus John. She published her first children's book "Orlando the Marmalade Cat : A Camping Holiday " in 1938 with Country Life, producing another six of the delightful tales during the Second World War. Her last book in the series o the cat's adventure was published in 1972 and her auto biography " A Slender Reputation" appeared in 1994.
