May Gibbs

After having moved to Australia with her family as a child, she later drew on the knowledge she gained there of Western Australian Flora and Fauna to write her books. The successful stories of the "Gummut Babies" began in 1918 with "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" and she carried on producing books till 1954. She died in 1969 aged 88.
