Peter Firmin
A freelance illustrator he teamed up with Oliver Postgate in 1958 to create a series of memorable children's programs. These include "Noggin the Nog", Bagpus", "Ivor the Engine" and the "Clangers" most of which have inspired books. He was born in Harwich, Essex in 1928.
