Eleanor Farjeon

The daughter of the writer, B.L. Farjeon she was born in 1881 in England. Although she was encouraged to write by her father from a very early age, she received hardly any formal training. A friend of Walter de la Mare, she produced many books of verse for children. Her wonderful book, "The Little Bookroom" that was illustrated by Edward Ardizzone and published in by OUP in 1955 won her both the Carnegie Medal and the Hans Christian Andersen International Medal. She died in 1965, aged 84
