It was while there in 1886 that she produced one of her greatest children's story "Little Lord Fauntleroy". Uniquely based on her Anglo-American experiences it became a popular book on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1898 she moved back to England and stayed for nine years at Maytham Hall in Rolvenden, Kent, which was to inspire her her next great success "The Secret Garden". This was published in 1911 by Heinman, after she had moved back to the United States where she died in 1924.
