L Leslie Brooke
He was born in Liverpool in 1862. He began his career as an artist illustrating books by Andrew Lang, Mrs Moleworth and even Edward Lear. His son was Henry Brooke who became British Home secretary. His first published book was "The Light Princess and Other stories" by George MacDonald and published by Blackie in 1890.
