An English author born in 1892 she is responsible for the delightfully spooky series of books about the house at "Green Knowe". She studied at Oxford and then served as a nurse in World War l . It was in 1935 that she moved into the 800 year old manor house in Cambridgeshire which inspired her books. She also wrote another ten other children's book is a similar magical vein.
