Hillaire Belloc
He was born Joseph Hilaire Pierre Rene Belloc and studied at Balliol College Oxford. As well as writing a large number of books for adults, he also wrote some humorous verses, aimed supposedly at children but enjoyed by all. He died in 1953 aged 83. His most collectible volume is "The Bad Child's Book of Beasts" which was illustrated by Basil Blackwood and published by the Alden Press in 1896.
