S G Hulme Beaman
Born in London in 1886 he went onto to become a Toymaker. Then in the Early 1920's he started producing comic strips in which the characters were based on his toys. These "Toytown " stories were strangely adapted for radio and became a firm favourite with the listeners o BBC's "Children's Hour" right up until its final program in 1964. Beaman himself had died in 1932. His "Road to Toytown" was published in 1925 and a book devoted to his most famous character "Larry the Lamb" was published by Collins in 1946.
